Hi,
Im 36, I found a lump a few months ago, I know ive left it but I left it as it doesn't feel like the cyst i have had in the past. My new lump feels more hard, like thickend skin, its on the inside of my breast not the outside, the gp said it felt defined (not sure what that means) around 1.5cm. I have had a few lumps before in this naughty right breast but this one feels different. I keep thinking its in my head, can you tell me what yours feels like and where it is?
I do have a on/off inverted nipple since pregnacy, its becoming more so with crust inside, its been itchy too, I'd that normal?
I haven't had any experience of breast lumps, am post-menopausal and cannot alas answer your main question about your lump - although I will say, if you are worried, please do insist that your GP checks it out for you. Don't let them fob you off by telling you, you are too young!
The inverted nipple: I have had one nipple that is on-off inverted, for more years than I can remember! I think I was younger than you are, when I first noticed it. And yes, when younger it was sometimes a bit itchy (although not scaly, that I recall).
I went to the GP a few years ago about something not strictly connected, and she noticed my inverted nipple and suddenly took on a concerned air and said, "how long have you had that?" and I said, erm about maybe thirty years or more...!
The point I'm making is that inverted nipples can be something normal for some women. You said you noticed it changed after your pregnancy - that might be something to do with hormones, for example. That said, do flag up anything you are concerned about, with your GP, at all times. Don't ignore it. It's highly likely your inverted nipple is a "new normal" for you. If something feels different, follow your gut feeling and get it checked out. This will reassure you that it's nothing to worry about. But in the very unlikely instance that it actually is something sinister, at least by having it checked out, you are doing the best you can to catch it early.
Thank you for replying, my nipple hasn't worried me as much as the lump, i mean its in the right inner quadrant so I know thats alot less likely. Im just waiting for my 2ww scan and tests if they find anything x
Hi Flowerharris,
welcome to the group.
I was in a similar position as you and had my 2ww appointment yesterday.
I was given the all clear and just wanted to say that while it’s a very worrying time, not all lumps turn out to be cancer.
If it is then you’re in the right place to receive the support you will need.
good luck
Mel x
