Hello. Just curious to know (I like to be learning all the time), did you all have the oncotype dx test and if so, what was your score and your age and type of breast cancer.

Mine was 26 and I am 41 years old. My friend had the exact same cancer at the exact same time (we compared notes), (only difference mine was grade 3 and hers was grade 2). Her score was 6 and she is 67 years old. Strange that it’s such a big difference. FYI we both had her2 negative and same PR/ER status.

My oncologist said she would have recommended chemo regardless of the score number because of the grade of it. However she said they didn’t know by how much the risk of recurrence is reduced by after having chemo though which is bizarre.

  • Just had the phone call I'd convinced myself I wouldn't get....results back early so apt is now 5.30 tonight!!

    49, ER+, P+, HER2-, Stage1, Grade3 idc nst & high grade DCIS, lumpectomy/snb, 16x rt

  • I hope everything goes well, at least you will have it over with. I always think before these appointments this time tomorrow it will be over. Time goes so quickly.

Will be thinking of you and will check in with you tonight xx

  • fingers crossed for you x

  • This is interesting. I think score of 16 is still a low recurrence risk though so I wouldn’t worry about that.

Did you have a mastectomy or was it a lumpectomy? Yes I agree I think ultrasound and mri are much better.

  • How did you get on at your appointment? I hope you are ok xx

  • Thank you for thinking of me!

Score was 10 = no chemo!! Tada

Treatment suggestion is tamoxifen, zoladex & zoledronic acid so apt made for dentist Friday.

RT planning apt 6/5 & he's hoping to start the 16 fractions 26/5

  • That’s fantastic, really pleased for you. I have a friend who has just had her radiotherapy planning this morning and she said it was absolutely fine so don’t worry about that.

  • Thank you! Still so much to take in. I'm not entirely sure when my infusions will start but I'm hoping they'll send everything we've agreed in the post so I can see it all in black & white

  • Yes you’ll get a letter with confirmation of the list of treatments you are eligible too then do your research but you are going to be absolutely fine Relaxed️

  • You're right it is, it's considered low to medium risk.  I had a lumpectomy full lymph removal then radiotherapy.  Unfortunately I then also ended up having a frozen shoulder so had to have an op for that too. I'm nearly five years down the line now, I was told I would need to take hormone therapy for ten years but had to come off it a few months ago as I had retinal toxicity.  I have just been called up for my mammogram and then my cancer nurse said I would have a five year review when they would look at the facts and figures about whether I should carry on taking a hormone therapy.  although i have to go private for it, I feel much better having an ultrasound and mri as it also means I get to talk to a consultant as I haven't seen mine since my post op meeting
