Hello

My name is Tracey

I am new to this group. My surgery starts in two weeks with stage 2 her 2-1 breast cancer.

All sorts of names have been given for my diagnosis but looks like I'm having masectomy and up to 20 lymph nodes removed. There is possibility of chemo radio or one or the other or none.

I am scared as heard all sorts about movement of the arm but am practicing the exercises that I have now.

It's the right breast that's being operated on.

Would like thoughts and advise?. Thanks

Hi Blondemoment welcome to the forum. I think if you do the exercises they will give you after surgery religiously them you shouldn't have too many problems..it can feel a bit stiff at first but it does get better. The physios or ward staff will give you the best exercises targeted specifically at you Wink best wishes for now Gail x

  • Hi Tracey Wave

I'm new here too - was diagnosed 3 months ago & had a double mastectomy & lymph node clearance on left side 6 days ago...Had my last drain removed yesterday! Yay. Every day gets a little bit better.

So I've started very gentle physio exercises, as given by hospital physios. There's definitely a balance to be struck between resting/healing & keeping regular gentle movement going. I believe your body gives you feedback; it will let you know if you're doing too much. So listen to your body & energy levels.

And set things up at home beforehand, so that important items are within reach of your 'Tyrannosaurus arms' Laughing I've found having my bed set-up with pillows & wedge invaluable. And a chair downstairs with tables either side for everything.

    Good Luck with everything, Di
