Hello I posed last week for the first time. I now have more info and I've been told I am Her2 positive and estrogen positive (I'm learning so much). At present the tumour is to big to operate. The plan is to force the menopause and then have hormone therapy to reduce the tumour with the aim of making it operable. It's going to be a long journey, I am worried about the cancer growing whilst waiting for all this treatment, it's already big and I read it increases in size each week. I am scared.
Has anyone had a similar journey?
Thank you
Hi there, I also had a large (55mm) tumour, both Her2 positive snd estrogen positive. I had chemo to shrink it before having a lumpectomy, but I also know some people have hormone therapy first. Try not to worry about the cancer growing quite so quickly. The important thing is to reduce it in size so they have a better chance of removing it all during surgery.
You can ask your medical team about the rate of growth, but my understanding is that for most people it's not quite as quick as we fear. Best wishes
Thank you Irishgirl.. Thank you for sharing the information. I am waiting for my appointment with the oncologist, so I will ask about rate of growth when I meet with them. The waiting for appointments etc is the worst bit... but I have to accept that this is going to be a journey and trust in the medical professionals x
