  • Hi Azatr

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  While I don't have the experience you are looking for I noticed that you haven't had any replies yet.  This reply will bump you up to the top of the discussion.  Hopefully someone will be along shortly with an answer to your query.

Wishing you the best of luck with the operation.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Azar I had a fat transfer after having a lump removed from my breast due to triple negative breast cancer. I was told that it can take a couple of tries for it to be successful. I am currently on a waiting list for my second attempt. I didn't find it too invasive, I was sore afterwards for a bit but just didn't do anything too strenuous for a couple of days and I was ok. There is some improvement but my surgeon said that the second one needs to be done soon in order for it to be effective. I hope you are doing well and wish you all the best. Feel free to message me anytime.

    Regards

  • Hi Azar

I am nearly 5 weeks after surgery is it a Diep flap you are getting. I had a mastectomy on the right side using my tummy fat  skin etc they did have to use some muscle during surgery for the vessel / artery for the reconstruction. I also had a reduction of the left breast. I was able to get up and about the next day slowly and with help. Stomach feel very tight to begiin with pain manageable. I do have some wounds at the t junction that are not healing as well as the rest. My surgery was just under 8hrs my first surgery so that felt scary but all went well. Due to get radiotherapy so hopefully I heal soon.

please ask me anything unsure if this is the same surgery as yourself.

Wishing you all the best in your journey Heart️

  • Thanks daisy for your attention.

  • Hi marion

    i don't know why?

I hope everything goes well for you.

  • Hi amy

    i hope you were well.

I think for me is the same surgery ,they told me they remove my right breast and make the left breast smaller size and cut the belly for using the fat for reconstruction of right breast at the same time.its 3 surgery simultaneously.did i feel too much pain after surgery?

  • Hi Azar

I have had experience and am 4 weeks post tram flap natural unilateral surgery.

Mine was not done in the UK but it's still the same op. I am happy I went down this route.

My surgery was long, 10 hours, which was longer than expected. Recovery time is long too. Depending on what work you do, you might need more time off. I had almost 3 months off. The abdominal incision took longer to heal and was the one to be very careful about, the breast seemed to heal faster.

I did have incision complications, which is not uncommon... Dehiscence is when the wound does not heal and opens up. This meant even longer off work and more being very careful.

I wore an abdo band for over 2 months to help support and protect my abdomen. I was not allowed to wear a bra until 2 weeks ago, this is the protect the muscle and blood vessels that get moved  along with your belly fat to lay under your newly constructed breast.

If you want to know any more, please reach out.

  • Hi Amy,

5 weeks is still early days and it sounds like your doing well, which is great to hear. Muscle tone2 I've just had a mastectomy and immediate diep flap reconstruction on my left breast last week. I see you're having radiotherapy? Is that on your newly reconstructed right breast? I only wondered as they said I couldn't have radiotherapy after a reconstruction.

All the very best for the next part and a speedy recovery,

    Anie
