Hi everyone. I had my mastectomy August last year, one year check up was clear, so all good so far. Everything is looking good at the moment so why do I feel so rubbish?
I was on HRT for a year before my diagnosis and it really was starting to help. Obviously I can’t take it anymore and I’m really struggling. I just could sit down and cry for no reason, I’m exhausted all the time, either freezing cold or sweating buckets and every part of me aches!!
Is there an HRT alternative?!
Hi Randallf , I had my operation for stage 1 breast cancer a month ago and had 2 lymph nodes removed, in less than 2 weeks I will have my radio therapy next month, my scars have healed well, but I ws on hrt for 18 years before I had to come off because of operation I am now 59 years old and I’m going through exactly the same , one minute I’m sweating buckets then the cold sweats, it’s relentles around the clock. I really miss my hrt but obviously like you can not take them , I’m hoping at some point there will be and end to the sweats and chills, has anyone else got any advice on this, Ireally hope we both find some answers soon, I’m fed up with feeling so overwhelmed and emotional now , any time you need a chat I’m here , badger 123 ️

Hi
I had to come off HRT too. I take four sage capsules (2 morning with breakfast and 2 in the evening with my main meal) I also take evening primrose oil in the morning with the sage. My hot flushes seem to be cooling down. But have just started Letrosole!!!
Hi pottyjanet , my dr recommended to me to buy some high strength cod liver supplements and high strength vitamin E and I also bought some peri menopause capsules also high strength, there quite expsive but I’m willing to give them a go for now, maybe you could ask for drs advice also, I will be taking the same tablets as you after my radio therapy and am also worried about side effects , I dory to speak to my husband but feel that he doesn’t really understand, sometimes I think he gets fed up of me going on , you think that once you have had the operation things will improve but sadly tt’s not the case , the road is much longer than we bargained for , let’s hope the vitamins helps . Take care

TOTALLY get where ur coming from. I had a mastectomy in Jan. And really didn't want to stop my hrt. I feel like I've aged 10 or 20 years!!! I thought few months after op I wud b OK. Actually the 1st few months were easier than now, cos everyone was so supportive. Now I feel like I'm whinging so don't. Aches, hot/cold, brain fog is awful and mood swings. But the aches are the worst. I'm also on letrazole and another to help prevent osteoporosis. I take cod liver oil. Now on hols and didn't bring the cod liver... boy am I feeling it. So I m following this to see if any thing is suggested.
Hang on in there and know you're not alone. Hope it gets better for you. Massive massive hugs. Xx
Hi ricepud , yes you do feel like you’re whining all the time that’s one of the reasons I joined the group as I only have my husband, don’t see my son very often, not that I would want to burden him , it’s just comforting knowing you’re speaking to people who understand what you’re going through, it’s sort of therapy for people , enjoy and make the most of your holiday maybe you can buy more cod liver oil capsules whilst you’re there , thing is all the emotions hit you with you least expect it , I think a lot of it is lack of sleep because of the flushes ,xx

Thank you everybody. It makes a difference knowing I’m not alone! I will give the sage, evening primrose and the menopause tablets a go and try to get a chat with the Gp for some advice. Symptoms seem to be all consuming at the moment, just when you think you’re through the worst of it! Thank you everyone for your help xx
Hi everyone, I feel the hrt pain please run anything you take past your oncologist. For example mine specifically told me not to take sage. Sage increases your estrogen levels and I was told to avoid that and any other supplements that work in the same way. He told me the only safe supplement was oil of evening primrose oil. I know that advise from oncologists differ but I just wanted to highlight that xx
