Hello I have just joined following a mastectomy yesterday and wanted to find more our about others who are being treated for the above cancer.
I know I will be having hormone therapy but unsure about chemotherapy yet.
I was the same when I realised what the scans were for. It totally shocked me. Mine were clear but I have a lump under my right arm, am sure it is just scar tissue but biopsies were taken just to be sure. Awaiting results from that
Hi Dee2016
I didn’t get a bone scan however I did get a breast MRI and a CAT scan in addition to the biopsy arising from the ultrasound. If the lymph node was positive have they recommended axillary clearance? This removes the chance to be in more nodes and also checks if it is in anymore. The results and the waiting is terrible however I think when they do more scans it’s always better to know exactly what you’re playing with and it also can give you reassurance in terms of ruling things out so that’s your medical team doing a very good and thorough job.
So I hope you are not stressing too much as I know how hard it is. xx
Yes its been a week now from my lymph node clearance surgery still recovering, definitely worse than mastectomy. I did CT and bone scan just before the surgery so now waiting for all pathology and scan results.
I know its important to have these scans but Im just terrified why its so necessary now and annoyed that it should of been done when I was first diagnosed which was start of Jan.
doing more scans and test etc for the past 2/3 months and not being on treatment yet makes me feel more stressed and worried. Im just so tied and fedup. Can’t believe Im saying this but can’t wait to start chemo, as I just want everything to be over asap.
I hear you I am the same having had mx too. This surgery harder but bit easier this week. I too was stressing over scans but turned out ok on that front so hope it will be positive for you too. Dreading chemo and in particular the hair loss but just want to know the treatment plan now and get it started. Do you know what chemo you are on?
I don't know which chemo yet as first we need to know the results of the scans and then I will have an appointment with oncologist. So really can’t wait to get to that stage.
im hoping to try cold cap as I hear a lot people saving their hair so you should give it a go
