Hi all, I.m new here and wanting to share my story so far.
I felt a thickening of tissue or ridge in my right breast in May of this year, I had a mammogram in june...nothing showed but luckily followed up by an ultrasound at the same clinic which showed a tumour of 2.9cm. Biopsy and lymph node biopsy done there and then at the same clinic. I was told that I had a stage 2 M3 breast cancer. Oestrogen and progesterone negative but HER2 positive so growing quickly. The breast mri shows a further tail of abnormal cells in the same breast. I was told th treatment would be intraveanous EC Chemo for around 6 months and a masectomy after to ensure the cancer does not return followed by radiotherapy. I start my chemo on Monday 14th August. So it's took some time to get all of these results and tests and oncology appointments through. I will lose all of my body hair, thats for definate so have had my hair cut short in prep for this as it's less of a shock when it falls out. I can have my eyebrows microbladed, keep positive people, don't panic, cancer drugs have come such a long way in recent years. A few years ago my prognosis would have been poor because of the HER2 positive diagnosis but now the new drugs do a really good job. The macmillan nurses are amazing and can help you in so many ways. Stay beautiful all of you and don't do anything you don't want to do. It's all your choice you are in control so hold that thought!
Hi Trudi66,
So good to hear someone sounding so positive! Being positive is the best we can do! I start my chemotherapy on Thursday 17th August. I too cut my hair very short to prepare myself for what's coming. Don't really feel much prepared though... The very best of luck with your treatment!
Lana xx
Hi Trudi66,
so sorry to hear you’ve been diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer it’s so difficult to get your head round it all.
I was diagnosed with Stage 1 the same as you negative for Oestrogen and progesterone but HER positive on the 24th July.
I had a slight nipple discharge but felt no lump but went to the GP who sent me straight away to the breast clinic had mammograms/ultrasound and a biopsy, they found a lump that i didn’t know I had, luckily the ultrasound showed no lymph affected and and CT has shown no spread of the BC. As it happens the discharge was completed benign, just so glad I went.
I had my first Chemo yesterday 6 session so this has all happened in 2.5 weeks which I’m thankful for, I have to have a mastectomy and then radiotherapy.
I just wanted to say I don’t feel too bad today no sickness just tired, I tried the cold cap too and its manageable after the first 15 mins, I’ve heard of a few success stories so decided to try it.
good luck with everything if you need a chat I’m here.
