Am worried about the outcome whilst waiting for biopsy results x

  • Hiya. My mum has had two biopsies for this both have been fine.

  • Yes me 8 years ago.  One area benign the other DCIS - very early cancer.   My clinic err on side of caution with micro calcifications especially if your first mammogram.   Got recalled for them again at year 6 but they were stable to previous mammograms on closer inspection.  If you click my name you'll see my journey.   Lots have good results from biopsies but they dint tend to stay on this site unless they have a diagnosis so you will get a one side response.

The waiting for results awful .  How much longer will you be waiting.

  • Hallo, thank you for your msg.  I have another week to wait for results . . But we are going away on Saturday for a few days, hopefully it will take my mind off things for a bit.  I had a recall for my mammogram due to microcalcifications in left breast . . No lumps atall . . Had biopsies taken on Weds, it was all very quick and no chance to really speak to anyone . . I will look at your journey now . . Thank you so much x

  • Hi Traceyx

I was recalled for calcification my story on profile if you want to read . Biopsy’s showed DCIS this was in 2019 .

This is the worst time waiting for results try your best to keep busy  wishing you well with results .

  • Hi Margaret,

If you don't mind I ask, did the doctor place a tiny metal clip at the biopsy site for you? I'm scheduled to have the biopsy done but a little concerned about the placement of the metal clip.

Also for people who have done this procedure, would really appreciate it if you can share your experiences.

    Thank you.

  • Hi

Sorry I don’t recall a metal clip but have heard people on here talking about them so hopefully you will get answers soon

. My area of calcifications was large so perhaps didn’t need clip .

The biopsy was done on call back assessment clinic and then in planning meeting after these results confirmed positive there was disagreement about size between surgery team and radiotherapy  so I asked for second biopsy which was done immediately results next date . I then made confirmed my decision to  have  Masectomy which was 8days after diagnosis .

Feel free to read my profile and if you have further questions I’ll do my best to answer

  • Thank you so much for your response Margaret!

  •  When I had my original biopsy the radiographer went to ask doctors if she wanted a marker put in and she said no.  Then I had surgery & 6 years later was recalled from routine screening.  They showed me mammogram as reason for recall and why they were content there were no changes and I found out they had inserted about a dozen clips at time of surgery to mark tumour bed.  No one ever told me and I would still be in dark if screening unit DR hadn't pointed them out!

  • Hi

I had biopsy done on my right breast due to calcifications all were clear.  Yes the Doctor asked could they put a metal clip in to know that is where I had my biopsies done.  I had breast cancer in my left breast which was found the same time has the calcifications I had a mastectomy to my left breast  followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  I hope this helps.
