Hi All..

I was just diagnosed with breast cancer last Friday. I found a painful lump under my breast in May, went to GP and just did my breast examination last week. My world has suddenly turned upside down, I spent 2 days crying in disbelief :( I am actually still waiting for the biopsy result, but my doctor set me to have a CT scan and a Bone scan tomorrow, from which I read somewhere (I tend to googling around things), this makes me think I might have an IBC (T_T) I am so frightened right now. Is there anyone with the same case with me? How do you cope with this kind of situation? Thank you so much.

  • Hi Tami and sorry you are going through this.

I try to cope by keeping myself occupied which I find challenging at times but find reading, watching a favourite comedy or something like that quite helpful.

  • Aww thank you for that. I will try. I'm really glad I found this forum and read all the messages here. Let's be strong together.

  • I cry so much too so please know you are not alone and sending you my love x

  • Awwww.. (T_T) thank you. You are not alone, too. Let's beat this!! Sending you lots of love and hugs!

  • Yes we will get through it Heart️

  • Hi Tami, sorry to hear you have joined our club. The waiting is the hardest part. We have all been there and know exactly how you feel. Try to avoid googling things as they are often out of date and also lead you down incorrect paths making it even more scary. The CT scan and bone scan will be to check various things out. The biopsy will help give them details of whether its hormone fed, HER2 positive or negative and the grade of cancer if its slow, medium or aggressive (not stage) This in turn can help them work out the best plan of treatment for you.  Once you have more info then look at Macmillan, Breast Care Now or Cancer Research websites. They are the best ones and will have all the info you need, without the scare stories. Also chatting on the forums is a great way of getting support to and the nurses on Macmillan helpline are lovely to and will give advice. Once you have more results from your tests let us know as there are many of us out there who will have similar diagnosis. If you click on my name you can read my journey so far. Treatments have come on in leaps and bounds over the years and your medical team will be able to give you the best possible treatment for your type of cancer. With appointments if you can take a friend or family member with you it can help as there is often a lot to try and take in which can be hard if on your own. You've got this, you are not alone. We are all here to help and support.

    Wishing you all the best.
