Hi,
I'm at the horrible stage of waiting for results of biopsies (already 99.9% certain I have 2 malignant tumours). Biopsies were 6th June - felt like I was being attacked with a hole-punch
Is there somewhere on here that gives like a glossary/explanation of the terms used for types of breast cancer and the different types of chemo and drugs used? On top of being terrified, I'm certain I won't understand any of the terminology or treatment options that the consultant says.
Will tell more about me/my situation in time - for now huge hugs to everyone going through this.
Thanks

ha yes I went looking for smocked button up blouses which i had none of! we also have a dog who is very boisterous so surgeon has advised i don't allow him to clamber all over me like he usually does! that bit breaks my heart the most as he's such a love and likes a cuddle. i'm all confirmed for surgery next weds and I'm now focused on stocking up the larder and general nesting stuff in advance. must be hard on your own, please accept all help that's offered and ask for more if needed. sending a massive hug to you and sister Jax007 xxx
Hi Ellis 123
l had a mastectomy and full lymph node removal back in March like you l got a boisterous cocker spaniel who l was worried about, I stayed with a friend until I had my drains taken out because l live on my own so she was there to help me with the dog but to be honest when l came out of hospital my dog didn’t come near me or jump on me , l am sure he knew not to, I am now going through chemo and l got a picc line in my arm and again he seems to be avoiding that arm
oops. I think JaneyM1 posted about her cocker spaniel sensing he shouldn't go near her drains and line. My dog seemed to be nuzzling into my armpit a lot a few weeks ago but has stopped doing it now and even seems to come at me from the other side, so yes I'm sure he's sensing it or even smelling it. Clever dogs!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday. Still processing the whole thing, but find it incredibly hard to cope! How do I go about a second opinion at Marsden? Do I need to speak with my GP or I can just request it from the team that is currently taking care of me? It's mainly about the kind of surgery I’ll be opting for to begin with...
Hi Lana65 I'm afraid I don't know how that works re Marsden but would guess start with GP? It's really overwhelming isn't it when you have to make decisions and you feel the need to hurry it up so things don't get worse. My team have been great and made sure I meant what I've said and questioned and counselled me a lot about my decisions, which resulted in my changing my mind a week before surgery and now I'm certain I've made the right decision. If you can access Marsden then good for you, but there are other fine hospitals and surgeons if you can't, but I think you need to research to feel confident. I wish you all the best and send a big hug xxx
