Hi all - I didn’t really know where to start so I thought I’d start here. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and since then have been on a rollercoaster. I have just started immunotherapy and had my first session last Tuesday - I am struggling emotionally with it as I haven’t felt right and need to have my sessions weekly. I don’t feel like my body has recovered yet and I have to go again tomorrow. I have 3 months of immunotherapy and then three months of chemo. I would say that I am a positive glass half full person that loves life but this has just knocked me sideways and I keep crying and feel sad a lot of the time. I was just wondering if anyone has had this effect from any of the treatments they have received. Thanks for listening  Blush

  • Dear Tinsel, there are lots of lovely helpful or like here who are always ready to listen and support. I have had a different experience as I had surgery first and am waiting for chemo then radiotherHeartpy. But I think we all share similar emotions - this is a real rollercoaster! I have had to work hard at being positive but I really believe it helps. Stick with us, I am sure there will be someone aHeartong who can give you advice. Be kind to yourself. Take HeartHeart

  • Hi Tinsel

Don't worry about the crying, it is normal and happens to me all the time at the moment, probably hormonal changes on top of stress.  I reached out to Macmillan who have organized some phone counseling sessions for me which really help, talking to an unconnected, trained therapist helps to validate the emotions and get a handle on why they are happening.  Please call them today, no matter how strong a support group you have around you, professional support is to be recommended at this time.  I have just had first horrible round of chemo and have a long journey ahead, will take all the support I can get!

  • just been told iam stage 4 spot on lung left breast ,,that was 6th april 2023 how long does it take to start treatment i feel so down thinking about it all the time x

  • Thank you for your lovely reply. Blush I agree staying positive is the key Blush

  • Thank you for your advice. I will call to arrange sessions - I think talking to people that are one step removed and experienced in dealing with this is key. Stay positive Blush

  • Hi front gate - when I was first diagnosed I didn’t know if I was coming or going. I can only tell you my experience of when my treatment started as it all depends on so many things. Your dedicated nurse should be able to give you all the information and advice you need. My little bit of advice would be not to start ‘Googling’ as you can be misinformed and they are only statistics - everyone and everyones diagnoses is very individual. I started my treatment 7 weeks after my diagnosis, before then I had to have scans, blood tests and consultations - I hope this helps a little. I totally get how difficult - stay as positive as you can Blush x
