I found a lump went to my GP got fast tracked to breast clinic to be seen within 2 weeks was seen last Friday and was shocked that had to have biopsy after ultrasound. Iv found out that it has gone to a multidisciplinary meeting I’m worried that this could mean bad news I don’t know what to expect or when I’m likely to find out what is happening
Hello. Sorry you find yourself here and remember that most responders will be from women diagnosed with BC. We do have lots like yourself posting awaiting biopsy results who after sharing good news with us don't return. If you click on my name you'll see I'm almost 8 years on from diagnosis.
So procedure is scan, biopsy suspicious areas or lumps (not all suspicious area form a lump), review results, good, uncertain or malignant, with the MDT to ensure nothing missed, decide on next step, if any. They usually meet weekly and you should get your results quickly. They don't hang around . Some clinics do give preliminary results before MDT. I had mine 1 week after biopsy but surgery changed following MDT. Originally thought lumpectomy would give significant reduction in breast size so offered reduction on good side but MDT disagreed and they were right, I just have small dent and good breast left alone.
You will know what’s happening in the next appointment. Like if it’s cancer or not. Hopefully it won’t be and you’ll be done. Grogg has more or less given the details on if it is cancer so I won’t repeat those. Altogether it took me 2 months to start treatment from the moment I went to the GP (GP on 10th Jan, starting 8th March) Doc is repeating that breast cancer usually spreads slow and is very treatable. Try not to stress too much, they go quite fast and you’ll know soon. Best of luck ️
The waiting is the hardest, let's hope you have good news. Breast cancer is very treatable and once you have plans in place it gets better.
Good luck
