Morning, I am due to start chemotherapy next week. 21 weeks worth. I am really anxious. Going to try cold capping. Does anyone have any advice for how to cope? What worked well for you? Thank you in advance.

  • I certainly understand what you’re saying, that was my fear exactly! I had three EC (three week intervals) and was scheduled for 3 docetaxil, but I only had one, followed by radiotherapy. Hope all goes well, you’ll kick it’s ass and it’ll be over and done before you know it. Big hugs to you! x

    1. If anything like my experience the nurses were brilliant. 2 i didnt like the cold cap, but wish I had shaved off my hair, instead of dealing with it falling out. 3. You get drugs and lots of help with the side effects.

Take care  try to relax. It certainly helped to shrink my tumour.

    Anything else just ask.

Love these words. Heartpulse Thank you and I am so glad to hear that it was successful for you.

  • Once you start it will all seem a lot easier. I have been keeping a blog on this site of my experiences, many of my posts are about chemo. On the issue of steroids, yes they make it difficult to sleep but you don’t take them for long enough to get moon face etc.

  • Don’t worry about the steroids- like Mazz I got a high from them for about 2 days.
My husband shaved my head and post chemo it started to grow back.  Now have a buzz cut but it’s growing fast.

The chemo team will get you through- just count each cycle down. Good luck xx
