Good morning and thank you for letting me join the group that no one wants to join Blush

I was diagnosed Dec 2021 grade 2. Had lumpectomy and radiotherapy. One of the lucky ones. It was discovered in routine mammogram.

Still coming to terms with the remaining pain, trying reflexology now.

Has anyone got any recommendations for complementary therapies? I'm on Anastrozole for 5 years and finding it difficult to manage. Loads of weight gain (30lbs) intermittent vomiting etc.

Shouldn't really moan im one of the lucky ones

Huge hugs to all of you brave, strong, courageous ladies and gents

  • Hi sorry to hear you are suffering with anastrozole, I haven’t had any side effects except hot flushes.  I had a lumpectomy stage 3 10 weeks ago and am about to start radiotherapy so hoping that won’t make me put on weight as I’ve actually lost half a stone!  I am also having zolderonic infusion after the radiotherapy I’ll let you know how it goes

good luck hope you feel better soon xx

  • Hi  and welcome to the forum. Yes it’s definitely a club we’d much rather not join! But a great place for support and shared experiences.
Your situation sounds similar to mine - you can click on people’s user names to read their profiles. I’m 3 and a half years post op now, and am on Anastrozole too. My main side effects are fatigue and joint pains, it’s not nice but hopefully keeping the beast at bay.
Re complimentary therapies, I’m a fan but haven’t actually used much since diagnosis. Think I’m scared of possibly counteracting the beneficial effects of the hormone treatment. I had one session of reflexology (love it) during my 3 weeks of rads, and also had 6 weeks of weekly ear acupuncture much later, at my nearest Maggie’s centre at Addenbrookes. It was great re hot flushes and I felt I slept better afterwards. Other than that I haven’t used any. A good starting point might be the Penny Brohn centre in Bristol. They have information online and run many virtual sessions - have a Google and see what you think. I have a plan to treat myself to a face to face consultation there sometime but it’s not a day trip from where I am in Hertfordshire!
Others will probably pop in with more concrete suggestions, sorry mine are rather vague. My main ‘go to’ is walking - Nordic walking in a small group, dog walking and best of all long walks with my best friend. I always feel better for being out.
Sending love and a big virtual hug your way, HFxx
