I have stage 3 triple negative. Mastectomy in 10 days time. Very scared

  • Morning,

I will check out those sites, I do a little Yoga at home ( by no means look the part you imagine ) I did from time to time before diagnosis. I follow the free Yoga with Adrienne on You Tube. This helps me to relax and centre and I’ve even done it at silly o’clock when sleep evades me!

I’m not thinking about the op just yet, I’m waiting for Gene tests which will decide if it’s lumpectomy or mastectomy I think.

The injection is an interesting thing, I only have it once, a day after treatment, think it is a slow release one. Maybe different health authorities offer different ones.

I’m in two minds with cold capping, I’ve lost about 50% volume but very thin patch at right ear and a patch on top which I am very conscious of, I have some fab wigs ( from SHEIN) but not had confidence to wear and with hot flushes from chemo induced Menopause, I’m worried about being out with it on and then sweating. I wonder if Pax will still take more hair or not??

    Did you cold cap?

  • No the hospital will do that for you?

    Stay Positive.

  • Hi. I didnt cold cap. Lost all hair within two weeks of pax. Bought a wig but only wore it to see elderly parents. They didnt know about my treatment.   Shaved my head (hubby did) mostly went out bsld ir with pull on turban or wraps which were cooler and more comfy than wig. My hair now back to pre chemo albeit curly!

    Stay Positive.

  • Hi Just wondering how things are going

I’m all set to start chemo tomorrow morning

I do feel ready to tackle it head on now and am exhausted from the waiting ,thinking and trying to prepare for the unknown

my consultant and nurse do say the waiting to start is the worst time and it will get easier so fingers crossed here we go

I’ve set up a wall chart with 6 months from the time I found out to when chemo finishes and I cross off each day and I can hardly believe almost a month has gone already !!

  • Hi

It's all been a bit stressful  as they gave me an oncologist  appointment  for 8th June, due to demand! But I've managed  to get it brought forward, swing oncologist  tomorrow,  saw consultant  yesterday  for Mri results yesterday , they don't see any spread  beyond the breastvwhich is good  news, another ct scan has been requested before I have chemo, had bloods taken for it yesterday  in preparation.  I did my wig fitting this week and had my hair cut in preparation.

Good luck today! Let me know how you get on. Hopefully  I won't be far behind you xx

  • Good luck,  yes it goes surprisingly quickly stay positive

    Stay Positive.

  • It is hard not to google. And when you do you only find negative stuff or outdated.  My Breast care team insisted I only use Macmillan website. Best advice ever. Good luck you will be through this before you know it.

    Stay Positive.

  • Thank you I just want to start crossing off the days now

  • Gosh well done getting the earlier appointment that can’t have been easy

it’s good having the nurse call before starting and getting reassurances there’s lots that can be done to deal with side effects

I’ll let you know how tomorrow and the immediate days after go

  • Hope your mastectomy went well. I am also triple negative, recently started chemo.
