A year on from a lumpectomy and radiotherapy  my breast is very tender still , has anyone else the same thing ?

I'm paranoid the cancer has returned  . I havnt been offered a mammogram yet !

  • Hi

I had my lumps with reconstruction last august and now and again if I’ve overdo everything something I get slight aches. I had it last week after some gardening. It lasted about 24 hours then went away. I’ve read some people say it’s normal to still have discomfort months and sometimes years later. I would still mention to your BN and she should be able to advise better x

I understand. I had surgery in October and my breast is still really sore. The breast care nurse said it can last for up to 18 months. Like you, I'm worried about it returning. My first mammogram should be in October. Have you spoken to anyone about your worries?

  • My surgery was 10 months ago with radiotherapy two months later. My breast is still tender to touch, particularly the chest bone  above and around the side on my ribs. I notice too that if I reach up high (I’m a shorty) I ache for ages so trying to avoid that by using my other arm. The Letrozole is causing various aches too so all in all I feel I’ve aged 10 years!

I didn't expect this. Not sure if it's the surgery, radiotherapy, or both, causing such discomfort. As I'm on the large size, 34g, I do quite often hit against things, so painful.
