Hello
I have just joined the group. I recently had my 4/6 chemo. It was my first dose of Docetaxel and my goodness, the side effects haven’t been too pleasant, especially compared with first three FEC.
Started with severe leg pains, then diarrhoea then bright red painful hands and fingers…it’s all just starting to calm down before my next round wondering if anyone who has experienced similar side effects has any tips to get through it
Hello AMErry, I had second dose of Docetaxel yesterday , , yes totally different from EC, I slept and was nauseous low appetite with that and constipated.. this one is leaving me hot and cold, horrible salt rate in mouth blisters if I eat anything with a bit of spice or salt nothing tastes good, took me longer to get my energy back, up to 12 days before I felt better, runny eyes, maybe because not much eyelashes left, sore fingers, couldn't button or grip anything, sore toes, affected walking, back leg and hip pain, even though I already suffer with that I found it worse, ended up with urine infection, face broke out in purple spots, skin dry and was breathless doing Any chores..I felt constipated too so took one tablesppon of lactulose and ended up with awful cramping and diahorea and was exhausted and weak after it. my friend who also went through this recommended wearing dark nail polish to protect your nails from that discoloration, I was advised to take naproxen as I didn't get any relief from paracetamol . Has anyone had any breathing problems from the steroids you take day before Docetaxel and 2 days after? This is how I was with my treatment , I hope your all OK. One more left for me on 14th of April, xxx
It seems many people are having a bit of a rough time with this chemo my second docetaxel is next Friday. I Managed to get out today for a 6 mile bike ride but boy am I tired now. The leg pain was so severe for the week after my last round, I could not have imagined being out for such a long ride today. I’ve still no real appetite as everything tastes bad except bitter lemon and nuts strangely. I too have trouble with fingers and can’t grip anything well. You’ve one more round left? That’s great-not long to go
Your symptoms sound just like my week too and the breathlessness . Day 2 after treatment feeing super tired and have yet to do my injection which sets everything off got lots of pain meds on hand
I just had my injection 5pm..dreading the side effects good luck Sunshine xx
Thats great you git out on your bike , you know yourself when to rest..I was very tired today, yes 1 more to go, looking forward to it in a strange kind of way lol..had a lovely burger for dinner I think that's the last thing that will raster good for another while. The joys, as long as we're all managing and getting through this. The end is in sight take care AMErry xx
The pains are back all in my legs dosed up on all sorts nothing shifting it just got to ride it out I think feeling crappy
I had my first dose of docetaxel on the 3rd of March. Was OK days 1 and 2 after then stared to feel really rough. Could deal with the aches and pains. But when my mouth and throat stated to swell up I got really worried. Ended up in hospital as couldn't even swallow. Lots of meds letter could finally come home. Also felt like my hands and feet were burning they were bright red could hardly walk and couldn't use my hands or fingers. Couldnt eat and could only manage sips of water. Everythig hurt Was due my second dose last week but currently on hold till I see the consultant as thier worried about anaflactic shock xx
I had really bad leg, feet and hip pain for a week with red sore palms, fingers and knuckles. My hands felt like they were on fire. Rang the hospital and they gave me some pliazon cream. It helped a bit. I am due my 2nd dose this Friday and I’m dreading it. Currently my hands look disgusting as all the skin is peeling off where my hands were sore and red. Hope you get the right treatment sorted x
