Hi sunshine85
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with breast cancer last December. I’m also the hear that you are having bad side effects from your treatment.
I only needed a lumpectomy so I can’t offer any advice about a mastectomy verses a lumpectomy but what I can say is that you need to do whatever feels comfortable for you. Maybe talk to your breast care nurse and ask their advice.
Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your treatment.
Best wishes

Hi. I was diagnosed with DCIS in September 2021. Had a lumpectomy in October and went for results end of October to be told I needed a single mastectomy and lymph nodes removed. No chemo or radiotherapy pr medication needed after it. It was uncomfortable after lumpectomy and had to sit with a cushion under arm to ease pain. After the mastectomy on my right side I had to sleep with cushion under my arm. Even tho I had mastectomy in November 2021 I still have the cushion. But I would suggest to make sure you do the exercises as under my arm felt quite tight after mastectomy. I've not had any reconstruction done as my consultant said to wait 12 months. I do go for my silicone prosthesis fitting tomorrow morning tho. Hopefully it will go well. You will be ok, they're a good group on here. Xx
Thank you for your reply and hope all goes well for you tomorrow . Yes my surgeon said about the 12 month + wait seems so long when you just want it all fixed . I was offered an implant straight after mastectomy . Or to wait the 12 months + and use belly tissue to create a breast , lots to think about .
