Copied from an article I read today and wanted to share because it's how I feel after having my tattoos done 2 days ago:

For me, having to have a permanent tattoo visible in the middle of my chest was not about having a permanent reminder of the cancer. It was more about being able to go back to wearing the clothes I have always worn, about going back to the gym, about sun bathing on holiday, about trips to the spa without having to worry about a radiotherapy tattoo being visible to others for questions. Sometimes, you don’t want to have to explain to inquisitive people why you have a black dot on your chest, you just want to get on with living.

  • I don’t know when you finished radiotherapy but if it was less than 3 months ago you shouldn’t expose the area at all to the sun is my understanding, not even with suncream. I went to Greece 4 weeks after I finished radiotherapy and was told to wear nothing strappy, full coverage t shirts, wear a t shirt in the pool, very strongly cautioned about the sun. I still had a great time though! Hope you have a brilliant time and get some good r&r in xx

  • Hi I informed my consultant that I was going away to the Caribbean on March. All he told me was to make sure I had sun factor 50 on, not to sit in the sun, could swim in the sea which was better than the swimming pool. In both cases when getting out either on make sure that I shower and put on more sun screen.

I have a uv parasol bought off Amazon and a Solbari shrug, which is designed, tested and rated UPF50 + in Australia. I got this from the Solbari Web site and it came from Australia no problems.

  • Great! Another example of the differing advice were all given Rofl Have a brilliant time x

  • Oh I will. Really need the sun after feeling like s.. t after radiotherapy. I'm going to be extra sensible and hubby on my back telling me what I can and can't do I'm not going to get away with muchJoyJoyJoy

  • Sorry you are feeling this way. I had 3 tattoos and i dont even notice them either they are so small and just look like a freckle. No one would know any different. I hope your treatment goes well.
