Hi everyone.  I’ve been diagnosed with G2 pleomorphic lobular carcinoma ER positive, PR/HER2 negative, and having surgery on Wednesday 15th December.

i don’t know what made me examine myself a few weeks ago, and have no idea how long the lump had been there before that fateful day.  Saw my GP, who referred me to the breast clinic, and I was booked in very quickly.  I just thought if it’s a false alarm then fine, and if it’s more sinister then it is what it is and I’ll deal with it.  That’s been my attitude since the diagnosis, and I just want to get this over with and move on.  if it means a mastectomy then so be it.

Admittedly, I surprised myself at how calm and pragmatic I’ve been, as I can totally understand the anguish of so many other ladies who have found themselves in this situation. I wish you all the very best on your treatments, and hope you are well supported during these journeys into the unknown.

  • Hi Eileen, Did your covid test happen and are you still scheduled first for Wed? I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you xxHeart

  • Hi Mickey

Yes, I had the covid test yesterday and assuming the results will be in by the time I present meself for surgery on Wednesday.  As I’ll be there at 07.45, so hope to be back home mid to late afternoon.  Excited is probably the wrong word, but I’m really looking forward to getting it over with.

  • I’m sure it will all go ahead smoothly this time - it has to.  I’m looking forward to it being over with for you too.  It’s good to get in early, I was pleased to be the first admitted into the admissions lounge at 7am for my op and sit in number 1 chair RoflJoy . Will be thinking of you xxHeart

  • Hi Eileen, Thinking of you this morning and hoping surgery is now completed. Let me know how you are when you can.

  • Hi Mickey

    Thank you.

Arrived at 07.45 and went into theatre around 08.30.  Just waiting for pharmacy to send up some meds then I’ll be going home.   A bit later than expected, as I was dizzy for quite a long time, from the anaesthitic, and then felt a bit unwell after having some of the demon morphine.

All went well and I will get the results at follow up appt in 2 weeks

    xx

  • Fabulous news, I hope you get your meds very quickly and home to rest. I’m glad your results will be quick also, that’s good news.
    rest up now xxHeart

  • Hi Eileen, just wondering how you are feeling now?

  • Hi Mickey

I’m feeling fine thanks, but sore, which is to be expected.  Upper arm is a bit numb, and there’s a lot more swelling.  Some of the swelling is due to seroma, which I was told is usual after this op, and this fluid build up sounds like a hot water bottle when I move about.  Not painful, but weird, and can be noisy.   I just need someone to give me a tap on the shoulder ….

    xx

  • Hi Eileen,

Sorry to hear about the Seroma, is it likely to need aspiration? I had a bit in my tummy that felt like a water bed, but it did sort itself out fortunately. Glad it’s not painful and I hope it starts to go down soon.

I was just thinking that my right arm is still very numb at the top, particularly at the back and underneath. A month post masectomy and sentinel node removal, I would have thought the numbness would have gone by now - but what do I know JoyRofl

Have you been told when you will get results?

look after yourself and rest up - hugs Mickey xxHeart

  • Hi Mickey

Sorry to hear your arm is still numb from the first surgery.  I’m sure mine wasn’t as numb as this after the sentinel node removal, and it’s in the same place as yours from the sound of it.  I’ve no idea if/when that numbness will go.  Time will tell. I guess we all react differently to the treatments, and our healing rates will vary.  So many different factors to take into account, but at the end of the day we’re in the same boat.

i’ll get results at the clinic follow up appointment on 28th.

Are you finding it comfortable to sleep, or has the swelling subsided?
    xx
