Biopsy marker clip moved

Hey

just wondering if anyone has bad experience of their biopsy marker clip moving? I had lumpectomy and total node clearance last Tuesday and I vaguely remember the surgeon mentioning the clip had moved, I was pretty out of it so can’t elaborate more than that. I had a wire inserted on the day of surgery, so hoping they got the right bit.

I had chemo before surgery so not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Has anyone had any experience of this, just curious. Follow up is delayed so won’t get to speak to surgeon for another couple of weeks

  • Hi Boxie83 sorry no one has replied to you but hopefully by me replying it will move you up the lst and you will get some more answers.  My marker did not move but like you had a wire on the day of the op, so even if it did the wire would have ensured they got the right bit and pathology will check every cell and margins to make sure of it.  Hope that helps Ann

  • Thankyou ann this is really kind of you to try bump me up the list. I expect it’s not a common thing to happen.
    thanks again

  • Yes I think this can happen with chemo as it shrinks it and the titanium marker they put in for biopsy can then move. Prior to surgery, I had an additional magseed inserted, which was a radioactive marker, but they wanted to make sure they had all of it as mine was a funny long shape..

When do you get your pathology results?
