I had my right breast removed 2 years ago also 28 lymph nodes removed. I’m  sore and stiff all round ar chest an back anyone else feel like this ?I do use exercises and try to use arm as much as possible .But the ability to stretch for anything is limited

  • Hi and so sorry you are continuing to have pain and stiffness two years on.  Unfortunately it can happen.  Have you spoken to your doctor about pain relief for the soreness and maybe get a physio referral too incase they can do something more to help with your range of motion.

There is some information HERE  that tells you a little bit about ongoing pain that can persist long after treatment but hopefully your GP and a physio can help manage and improve things for you so give them a call.

Hope you are able to get help and improve the situation.

Wishing you all the best x

  • Hi

I cannot recommend highly enough (and also did a blog on this) that you get a referral on NHS (say through your G.P.) to a Physiotherapist. After waking up daily at 4.00 am with a sore or dead arm due to mastectomy and haematoma and completing every exercise known to womankind, resorting to Canadian, Australian and American exercises, one 45 minute session with a Physiotherapist easily sorted out the problem. I couldn't stretch to reach the parking machine to enter hospital for radiotherapy so know how it feels. I also, frustratingly couldn't get clothes off and over my head. You must take action. Physiotherapists know where the muscles are and the chest muscle is a big one which can get very tight. Hopefully you will feel instant relief like I did. The exercises are harder than the ones we are given after surgery and work the muscles.
