I am happy that I found this group. I feel like no one can understand what I am going through now. A while ago I felt something in my left breast, went to GP, they said I'm fine, couldn't feel anything. Now a few months after, the pain is constant (mild) and the GP could feel something. I was sent to an urgent scan to rule out the C word but while I am waiting for it, I am absolutely terrified.

I am an immigrant and do not have many friends here, I will have to go to the scan by myself. I am usually fine with relying only on myself yo go through difficult times but this time I wish I had company to that scan.

Thank you existing, group. Much health to us all!

  • sorry you find yourself here, I’m on supporting my mum who was diagnosed earlier this year.  I’m sorry you feel so alone but this group of amazing ladies will definitely provide you with the support you need.  5 days seems like a lifetime at the beginning all the best for your scan x

Thank you so much! Sorry to hear that about your mom, wishing you both the strength of the world through this. And I can imagine is not easy for the ones who support and love us through the process. Sending good thoughts your way!

  • Thanks, mums about to finish her chemo so if in the future I can help by sharing experiences make contact x

Because of Covid I wasn't able to bring anyone with me to appointments, but the Doctors were happy for me to phone someone during our appointments and put the phone on loudspeaker. That way I could have some support during the session and my partner / friend on the other end of the call could ask questions. I found it very supportive. Wonder if there is anyone (in the UK or elsewhere) who would be able to 'be with you' like this?

  • I wish I'd done that as wasn't allowed anyone with me when I was diagnosed and even then they asked me if I had brought anyone! It might have saved then repeating info as I just couldn't take it all in. You can ask for chaperones from medical team if you need someone else with you I think.

Not sure where you are in the country but maybe look at Maggie’s for support too as well as here. Some in person help is coming back. Good luck x
