I am also due to start chemo on Thursday, Got a blood test and a telephone consultation with the chemo team tomorrow.

  • H BGirl, sorry to hear you need chemo but it is not as bad as it's reputation, when you know what drugs you are getting, post on here and you will find others who have been through the same treatment, you are not alone.  Love ANn

Will be on TC treatment plan, 4 doses, 1 every 3 weeks.

Not sure yet what to expect in terms of physical recovery as I did have a plan to get my prostheses fitted on Friday as appointment was delayed due to Covid but now have chemo 1st dose on Thursday so I am presuming I won't feel well enough to do both ?

  • Everyone reacts differently even when in the same chemo. I am not on the same as you but I tend to find that the side effects on mine are manageable on the day of chemo and the day after and tend to increase towards the evening but on one cycle I was instantly unwell and floored for days, you really don’t know what will be normal for you. Maybe keep the appointment, arrange a lift there and back though as you may feel ok but wobbly and not comfortable to drive but I hazard a guess that appointment it very important mentally for you especially as it’s been delayed, good luck x

  • Hi BGirl,

I had 4 lots of EC every 3 weeks ....the first one sent me to bed after about 6hrs of having it, the subsequent ones I found around day 3 it would really kick in and the fatigue was challenging but manageable....be really kind to yourself, sleep if you need to and can, you have to be selfish and put yourself first. I am now on weekly doses of Paclitaxel, much easier to manage compared to the EC. Everyone is different but happy to share my experience. Good luck with your treatment.
