Hi, I had surgery nearly 4 weeks ago (still leaking from the wound), and am due to start Chemo on 21st September.
Everyone keeps telling me I look really well! ... How do I answer that one??? Ha ha , with a smile, and a thankyou!
I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has had cold-cap treatment , and deems it well worth it .... I am currently planning on rocking the turban/statement earrings look, even with my little pin-head.
Sorry you've joined the club - I hope you will find it as supportive as I did. Didn't have a cold cap myself, but my sister in law did. Her hair got a bit thinner but she didn't loose it. She was given sedatives to help her with the discomfort of it and needed someone she trusted to drive her home afterwards each time as she was a bit spaced out.
Wishing you all the best with whatever you decide. X
I cold capped and took 1 or 2 cocodamols an hour before, nothing else except the steroids, antihistamine and anti- nausea tablets given with chemo. I took 2 after about the first 5 chemo treatments, when my hair was patchy, as I felt the cold more! It does prolong the time in hospital, but I took a kindle fire and watched films, read books etc, I'd especially consider it with Docetaxel, as it can lead to permanent loss in a small minority of women.
Hi I cold capped for my 6 chemos. Just went thin all over especially top, but didn’t go bald. I took paracetamol half hour before went on my head. Was uncomfortable for 10 mns then didn’t feel anything else. Take a warm blanket or something to put over you as I was freezing the first time. They also gave us ladies a heated pad for under your IV arm and It helped keep me snug. I would say definitely give it a go, just make sure cap is well fitted and snug against your head . Good luck.
my hair coming in great now x
