I am starting treatment Monday week (targeted &chemo) & my partner has dementia & is currently incontinent, struggling to cope with everything, have carers coming in twice a day. How do you explain being away most of the day to someone who doesn't understand?
Hi i am a senior carer who works with many dimentia sufferers and understand how difficult life can be for you at the moment.
It largely depends on how much your husband can retain from what you said he may not realise that you have been gone all afternoon ?
Have you thought about getting a sit carer to stay with him while you are away ?
I have done this many times for families to attend appointments and none have ever asked me where they have gone as we have been too busy with activities.
Not sure if this is helpful x
Thanks, the carers we have now will be increasing their visits to 3 or 4 a day once treatment starts which will be a big help
