Hi all,
I have been lurking on the forum since diagnosed in July. I have so valued the candour and contributions of everyone, deciding to be brave enough to join in!
At routine screening it was established that I had a grade 2 cancer - not a tumour but a architectural distortion (not that anyone was ever explained that highly technical term to me!) The biopsy showed it was hormone positive. A second biopsy was done of another area which came back as DCIS. Bone and CT scans were negative and I had a lumpectomy a few weeks ago. I am currently awaiting the results & feeling increasingly nervous.
Like others every appointment or phone call has seen a change in plan and even on the day of the surgery they realised the diseased areas weren’t as close together as first diagnosed. I am now thinking they should have done a mastectomy straight away as I fear the disease is more wide spread. Of course I know I just have to wait but my goodness it’s hard!
Thanks for reading.
Hi Elphaba
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s good that the Bone and CT Scans were clear. The waiting is the worst part, once you know your results things should start to get a little bit easier.
Wishing you the best of luck with your results.
Best wishes

Hi Elphaba,
I lurked for a long while before joining too and like you plans keep changing and they keep finding more things.
The waiting is awful and I'm really not very good at it. My surgeon said that unfortunately that is cancer but that the waits and constant tests etc help them to find the most appropriate treatments for you. Not much help at 3am but it does make sense.
Its really good that your bone and CT scans were clear. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you
Best wishes Lumpy1
Thanks Daisy & Lumpy.
Really appreciate your understanding and encouragement. Good luck with both of your next steps too!
This makes you sound like a listed building or something very historic ! Wishing you the very best result here. I read once somewhere that "the tale is in the tissue" - so the important thing is what the tissue removed during the op tells the experts working on your particular case.
What the name?? It’s from Wicked - one of my favourite musicals. At the moment I feel pretty historic (not really at 52) & I’m certainly not precious enough to be listed :))
I hadn’t heard that tissue phrase before but guess it makes sense. There’s just soooo much waiting.
