Hello. Joined group today. I'm 10 days down the line following lumpectomy and sentinel node removal (3 out of 4). A little sore and arm tingley but mainly tired. Emotions and hormones all over the place but taking it one day at a time. Next step radiotherapy.

  • Hello

Welcome to the place none of us wanted to come to.

Your emotions will be all over the place, you have and are going through so much, I don't think anyone realises this until they walk this path.

I found that the operation site never gave me any problems, it was the area where the sentinel node was removed - this was a strange type of tingling, soreness that would get to the point of (I can't think of better words than.....) driving me mad and then it would ease off again.

Please remember you have gone though a massive amount over these last few weeks and to top it all you have had 'major' surgery -plus the anaesthetic remains in your body for a good few days afterwards.

Be prepared for strange reactions from people - friends may be good and support you - and others may disappear - this is a strange time to say the very least.

You are right 'take it one step and one day at a time'.

Be kind on yourself - don't rush.

There is a thread called 'AWAKE' - this is a great place to pop in both night and day - all types of conversations go on in there - if you have any questions or concerns ask away - we are all part of this journey.

Oww there is a thread based purely on Radiotherapy, each month it changes name to caters when people start on this part of their journey - although, I believe it is an on going thread.

I hope this helps - never feel alone, there is normally always someone about that will try and help with support or any questions.

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x
  • Thanks for the reply. Its harder at weekends to ask for advice as breast nurse and physio only work mon to fri and then I found this place. I'm more of a reader than writer but its been a strange few weeks as its all happened very fast. I'm 48 but just had another birthday and after reading your profile I too found lump and dimpling of skin so went to GP. Referred to Nightingale Centre and had mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. The doc was very blase saying its all hormonal as been on the pill for years and probably just a cyst. When I went for results she just kept talking about this lesion and didn't even mention cancer. The nurse was so much better at explaining things. Information is great thanks.
