Hi, this is all new to me but took advise and joined this group. I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer after having my first mammogram, which was followed up by a second mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. Just had a MRI and am now waiting for my appt on the 24th to discuss treatment plan. If im honest im still trying to get my head around it. it seems to have been caught early so i guess i should feel lucky ( not feeling very lucky at the minute). Im finding the waiting hard, trying to keep positive and busy x
Waiting is hard, really hard. It helped me to focus on things I could control (eating, exercise etc) and not looking st google (way too scary). From what I know, 4 months into this, treatment plans are very individual and targeting, especially for breast cancer. I hope you get more clarity soon
Hi JW,
Sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with BC. It’s a lot to get your head around. I found the wait for a diagnosis and a treatment plan to be very difficult. Your mind tends to go into overdrive.
I felt much better when I had a treatment plan as it gave me something concrete to work towards. You also feel like you’re taking back some control.
Wishing you well and that you get your treatment plan soon.

Hi JW27
Welcome to the group and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I know how you feel, you think why has this happened to me. You should start to feel better once you have a treatment plan and get started on it. I found while I was waiting for results etc that doing the things that I love helped me get through.
Wishing you the best of luck with whatever treatment plan your oncologist comes up with and if you have any questions or just want to chat I'm here everyday and will only be too happy to answer them or just listen (read).
Best wises

Hi Kisekae
Sorry to hear that you have been waiting for a treatment plan for a few weeks. Hopefully you'll get one soon.
Best wishes

I found the waiting the worst part. Once I had a treatment plan, I felt much better mentally though my treatment was chemo then lumpectomy then radiotherapy and 5 years of hormone therapy so not exactly easy!
The not knowing exactly what you're dealing with is really tough though. I actually had a shock when I got my MRI results as they had said likely lumpectomy then radiotherapy and that was it and they thought that would be really straightforward. But my MRI showed my lump to be a bit bigger than they thought and also on my chest wall so they wanted to shrink it first to make sure they got clear margins for the operation. I then had to have a CT scan to make sure it hadn't spread anywhere else (I actually think this is pretty standard) and waiting for that result was the worst.
There's not much anyone can say to make the waiting easier, but everyone here has been through it so understands how awful it is.
