Hi
I m new here, went to consultant appointment last week for a lump in my left breast. They performed a mammogram and ultrasound which revealed the painful lump I had been feeling. They took biopsy’s from the lump and confirmed it’s definitely not a cyst.
the consultant was honest and said he thinks it’s a breast cancer but have to wait for biopsy results but there was talk of lumpectomy and radiotherapy. I m stunned really, lost my sister 4.5 years ago to pancreatic cancer at the same age I am now (43) I m actually terrified, I ve 2 children and a husband to care for as well as keeping my sister’s memory alive and giving to her 3 children.
awaiting my appointment this week - it’s been the longest weekend. Telling family and close friends has been hard and I am actually dreading telling my children 12 and 14 as they will be scared I ll die like my sister. I m trying to think positive but it’s hard
Thank you, sounds as if you have really had a tough time. It must be so hard getting all ready to face chemo and then it being moved? Sending positive thoughts x
Hello, i had a vaccuum biopsie in 2016 to remove bad cells, if id have left them they would of turned cancerous.. 2 weeks ago i went to the gp sayin i had pain in my left boob and under arm, i just thought it was menopausal, i was wrong, mammograms and ultrasound, biopsie confirmed i had grade 2 breast cancer. I have to have a operation on the 7th July, followed by radiotherapy. I am very worried, as the same thing happened to my mum in 2006. But sadly i lost my mum to secondary breast cancer and brain cancer..My breast care nurse keeps saying to me that its been caught early i should have a good outcome. Im hoping so.. I wish you well Pops39 x
Hi pepsiepixie, wishing you well with your treatment, I am seeing my consultant Monday to discuss surgery, and hopefully get booked in soon. I to had a vacuum biopsy, do you know why they do this and not an ultrasound guided biopsy. Wishing you well xx
Hi Pops39, this sounds like a really tough time for you, I am sorry. All I can say is that breast cancer is so very treatable, but I know of course that won't stop you worrying. I hope you get some clarity on your results quickly so that you can look forward x
Hi Pops39
Welcome and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you lost your sister to cancer 4.5 years ago. While it's easy for me to say breast cancer is really treatable these days and you will be well looked after by your medical team. I was diagnosed with Triple negative breast cancer last September and after treatment I am now in remission.
Wishing you the best of luck with your appointment and with whatever treatment your oncologist has in mind for you.
Best wishes
