I was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday, am only 38 years old. Head is all over the place.

  • Hi DaisyRosie

Welcome and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  It's quite natural for your head to be all over the place, the words you have cancer are not words that you want to hear.

Do you know what type of Breast Cancer you have yet? I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer last September and while it wasn't a total shock as I was expecting it as they found a lump I didn't know about when I had my ultrasound.

Breast cancer is very treatable these days and there is plenty of support out there if you need it. If you need to have chemo the chemo nurses are very kind and do everything in their power to make things as easy as possible for you during treatment. While I won't say chemo is easy it is doable.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever treatments your medical team decide to give you. I'm on here on a regular basis and will only be to happy to answer any questions you may have as will others on this forum.

    Best wishes

    Hi DaisyRosie

Welcome and sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I am still fairly newly diagnosed myself and still trying to get my head around it all. I found a lump in March and was referred to the breast clinic where after having mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy they told me there and then that they were sure it was cancer. I burst into tears as was there on my own. I think I knew deep down it was but to be told it was still came as a shock. My husband came in to speak to the specialist with me as he’d been waiting outside.

I went back for my results two weeks later where it was confirmed I had grade 1 (19mm) tumour which they said was caught early and was really cureable. So I was booked in for a lumpectomy and would have three lymph nodes removed although were clear on ultrasound. Then would be  radiotherapy and hormone tablets.

It is a really scary time with lots of things going round inside your head. What type of breast cancer do you have snd did they give you an idea of treatments. The breast care nurses are always really kind and helpful and I’m regularly contacting mine for advice and reassurance so do speak to them.

Wishing you the best of luck with everything and always here if you need to talk. I have got close family and friends I have told but it’s good to chat to those who are going through the same experience.

    Hugs
