I have triple negative breast cancer. I started chemo 4 days ago. Will the second chemo this week make me feel as rough as I do ? Any feedback would be helpful.?
I’m afraid it will. I had breast cancer in 2012. Chemo was 4 cycles of Fec-T and 4 of Taxotere. I still remember how rough it was. Second cycle, my hair started falling out. I found the first 3 days after chemo was the worst and then started to pick up. I’ve been fighting various cancers for 10 years now. What chemo are you on? Kate xx
Hi Nellieselly
Welcome and sorry you have been diagnosed with Triple negative breast cancer and that you are feeling rough after your first Chemo cycle.I was diagnosed with it as well last September. Don’t be afraid to contact your oncology ward and talk to a nurse about how rough you are feeling and they will advice you on what you can take to hopefully make you feel better. Chemo effects every patient differently. I felt rough the first time I had chemo but after that while I did have a couple of blips I didn’t have too hard a time. Take plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
My hair started to fall out after my second chemo and I got my mother to shave my head to get rid of the remaining hair. While it was a shock at first I soon got used to it. I didn’t bother with a wig I bought myself a .couple of turbans to wear whenever I went out.
Wishing you the best of luck for the rest of your treatments.
Best wishes
Daisy
Hi. It’s such a relief to hear from you guys . Chemo is Paclitaxel and Carboplatin.. I’m hoping the Tumor shrinks although not sure if negative three can be beaten.. 10 years you’ve had fighting. Wow you’re amazing! Bless you. After 6 wks of chemo I see Professor Benson to talk about operation of chemo has worked. Then radiotherapy.. xx
Thank you Daisy for advice.. I think the only way to stop being sick was I ate fruit and nibbles after chemo. It must have been awful having your hair shaved off. I wake up in the mornings in panic to check if hair and eyebrows have fallen out. That’s least of my problems I’d love as all of you feel the same to smash this cancer to bits! Xx
I had an operation at the end of March to remove the tumour in my breast which was a lot smaller than when I started chemo and two nodes from under my arm. There was still some cancer in one of the nodes so I had a CT Scan and a bone scan to make sure it hadn’t spread, which thankfully it hadn’t. My oncologist decided to put me on chemo tablets for six months to hopefully prevent it from coming back and I am due to start Radiotherapy tomorrow afternoon.
At the moment I’m feeling well and my hair is growing back and I’ve got my eyebrows and eyelashes back, so try not to feel too upset if they fall out they will grow back.
You’ve got this.x
I’ve tried to cover redness with foundation. I look awful. The chemo monsters that are eating away at our bodies are also eating the tumors of which is great for us all but wow it’s horrible. Feeling tired and ill . Bless us all xx
