Hi, I am new to the Group but was hoping to link up with women in the same position as myself for advice and support. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2007 and had a full mastectomy and breast reconstruction. Unfortunately, very shortly afterwards I developed Capsular Contracture and had the implant replaced again in 2009. Once again however I developed Capsular Contracture for and 2nd time and have been living in a lot of pain with it for some years now. Am thinking of having implant removed now completely and not replaced at all but finding it hard to make that decision. Is there anyone that has had their implants removed and not replaced? Also, have had health issues for past number of years and wonder if it is related to Implant Illness but find it very difficult to get any medical professional that is willing to discuss this. Thanks. Babs.
Hi Babs and a very warm welcome to the online community
I don't have the experience you're looking for, as I had a different type of cancer, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. This is probably because this is such an active group that it has slipped off the first page before someone with the right experience has seen it. By replying to you it will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.

Thanks so much for your help. Wasn't really sure where to Post the request. It has been a great help just to know that I am not alone and that other women are suffering with the same painful condition. I have an appointment with the Plastic Surgeon 15th June and am still not sure whether to have the implant replaced for a 3rd time with no guarantee that I won't develop Capsular Contracture again or just leave it out. Anyway I still have some time yet to think about it. Regards. Babsx
Yes, where you've posted it is fine Babs. Hopefully someone will be along soon to chat to you about their experiences.
Take care
