Hello Everyone
I am 66 and went for my routine mammogram at the end of April, this came back with an area of concern so had to have a biopsy on my right breast .It turns out its a grade 3 invasive carcinoma 6mm in size ,I couldn't feel a lump nor can my consultant but its there and has to be removed along with sentinel nodes in armpit on the 9th June ,then 1 weeks worth of radiotherapy and keeping everything crossed its not HER 2 positive .
I had a vulva cancer back in 2010 which was removed successfully along with lymph nodes which resulted in leg lymphoedema .I never thought in my wildest nightmares cancer would come back for another bite ,I have good days and very wobbly emotional ones .I have been told my prognosis is good but I would dearly like your support during this journey .Thank you All
Hi cherrylannR
Sorry to hear that you have Breast Cancer after having had cancer before. It must have been a great shock. I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer last year and had 8 sessions of chemo, 4 of AC and 4 of Taxol. It's understandable that you have good days and bad days, finding out that you have cancer for the second is a horrible experience.
I had an operation to remove my tumour as well as two sentinel nodes in armpit. The margins were clear in my breast but unfortunately there was still some cancer in one of the nodes that my surgeon took. My oncologist has put me on further chemo this time in tablet form and so far I'm not having any problems with them. I will also be having Radiotherapy which I'm hoping to start next week.
Wishing you the best of luck with your surgery and treatments. I'm here everyday so if you have any questions or just want to talk I'm happy to do so.
You've got this.
Best wishes
Daisy
Thank you so much Daisy I will probably have a few more questions to ask as my treatment progresses so its good to hear you will be around .It sounds like you have been through the mill too and I wish you all the best luck in the world during your treatment journey .I still don't know if I will have to have chemo I suppose its linked to the HER2 result which I am waiting for ,she did say I may have to have hormone manipulation .I will have a wide local excision as a day patient .
Best wishes
