Joined this group today it has helped me so much as I feel not the only person going through this! It has made me feel not alone I have asked myself why me because breast cancer was always for other people not me. It has stopped me in my tracks a normal life seems along time ago and it’s only been a month!
Hello Teddymilky
I am also new to the group after a recent diagnosis of Grade 2 Breast Cancer. I would like to reassure you that all will be well and life is still there for you. I have found it a whirlwind of appointments to start with from mammograms, biopsy to seeing the Consultants for the results. I have had my lumpectomy and lymph nodes, with 2 lymph nodes removed. I have had a cavity shave last week as I didn't have a clear margin. Then I will be seeing the Consultant next week for the results and hoping to be able to move onto radiotherapy. Some simple things I have found to help me is by watching a comedy films, reading book, going out for walk. Some pampering, hand cream. I do understand how you feel and that normal life seems like along time ago. I hope this helps and would like to wish you all the best with your operation on Saturday! If you have any questions about the operation just let me know.
Best Wishes
Thank you Jenny this really helps, you understand with the whirlwind of appointments it’s sometimes really hard to take it all in!
Hi Teddymilky
Welcome to the forum. And sorry that you have diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer is very treatable these days. There is a lot of support out there for people like us who have been diagnosed with Cancer. Some days are harder than others and like you I have asked why me. Just take it one day at a time and do keep doing the things that you love, you’ll find that it helps a lot.
Wishing you the best of luck for your operation on Saturday.
Best wishes
Daisy
If it helps, my wife had a lumpectomy and was up and walking around within an hour of coming out of recovery, and we took the train home! (had been planning to get a taxi)
Make sure they give you pain relief to go home with, and good luck!
After all the biopsies and tests, the lumpectomy almost seems a relief. Up and about an hour afterwards and home in a couple of hours. Pain is even tolerable.
Good luck with your op and try to stay positive as it helps with healing. x
