First routine mammogram 23 April , assessment review 10th May, lump deep in left breast found around 1cm biopsy done.  Cancer confirmed 12th May, appointment to see surgeon  on 20th May.Do not yet know type or grade. Told everyone  at work and family they seem to be amazed how well I am dealing. I am puzzled  as to why, as it was itoo small  for me to have found. Nothing I can do to change my findings. Everyone else more worried then I am, is this a normal reaction on my part.

  • Your reaction sounds a little like mine and suggests that you're a practical and pragmatic person. I found that over time, people took their cue from me and my upbeat, lst's just get on with this approach helped s lot.  People still say that they are amazed how I am msnaging, for me I am just being me

  • Hello, I think some people hear the word cancer and automatically think the worst. Breast cancer caught early is very treatable and the vast majority make full and complete recovery. I was in a similar position to you and whilst I had my down moments, in general just got on with it. I’m now just 3 weeks post radiotherapy and ready to get back to pre cancer days. Good luck on our journey and try to remember their is no rule book and everyone is different, so whatever you feel is perfectly ok. Just ask for help if you need support and remember even strong people need a hug from time to time.

  • Hi JOOLs

When I found out I had Cancer it wasn't a shock to me.  I knew from the moment they found a lump under my arm when I had a ultrasound scan after my mammogram.  I had hoped that I was wrong but I wasn't.  I told all my friends and family and they took their cue from me.

Wishing you all the best for your treatment.

    Best wishes

    1. Sae breast surgeon today it looks like non specific with lobular changes but need mri as it is deep and Ibiopsy was awkward  I  have big breasts with dense tissue, they  think tumour is 12mm but cannot be sure until mrri. It is hormone positive but again until I have had surgery they cannot be sure of type if chemo is needed. I know I will be having radiation and hormone therapy drug beginning with l. Did not really take everything in. It still does not feel real.
