Hi ,am newly diagnosed and very frightened.  Anyone else diagnosed with triple negative?

  • I was diagnosed with triple negative in November 2020, just finished chemotherapy. Awaiting my surgery next month followed by radiotherapy. If you have any questions I will do my best to.answer them.

  • Yes I was diagnosed in March this year - my treatment is the other way round - had lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed (4 which were all clear thank goodness) 1st chemo is today stay strong and take 1 day at a time xx

  • Hello,

This is just to let all three of you know that my TNBC diagnosis was in 2015. I won't say the treatment was easy as I had a few unpleasant reactions but it is over and after five years , my surgeon has signed me off as that particular cancer is unlikely to return.

So keep strong. Time will pass. Don't be too frightened. That unknown fear will soon be another experience you can help others with.

    Take care.

    Love Karen

  • Hi Devlet

I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer last September. I had 8 sessions of Chemo, 4 of AC and 4 of Taxol. The chemo got rid of most of the tumour in my breast and got rid of the tumour under my arm. Chemo isn’t easy at times but it is doable and there is plenty of support from your Medical team. I was assigned a Breast Care nurse that I could contact if I had any problems or wanted to ask questions about any aspect of my treatment. The care and attention I received from my medical team was great. There is great support out there if you are struggling. I struggled at times during my treatment and I was able to get access to a counsellor through my Country’s Cancer Society for free.

I had an operation in March to remove the remaining lump and two lymph nodes. I will be starting Radiotherapy Next Monday.

It’s understandable that you are very frightened but Breast Cancer is very treatable these days. I know of a lot of people who had it and are still around today a few of which have the same Breast Cancer as us.

Wishing you all the best for your treatment and don’t be afraid to reach out if you are struggling. Take things one day at a time.

    Best wishes

  • Hello I was diagnosed with triple negative cancer in January after finding a lump in my right breast.  Mammogram picked up another lump and ultra scan confirmed and biopsy on both lumps. I was scheduled to start chemo 3 weeks after my diagnosis and had my pre assessment the day before got home and received a call from the hospital, to return to the hospital as a PET scan I had the previous week found it had gone to my liver. The consultant oncologist told me there is no cure and hopefully they can manage this.  Devastated, angry, scared emotionally inside I was breaking but have my daughter to think about and trying to be as positive as possible. After waiting 3 weeks for further tests, I could feel the lump getting bigger the consultant wasn’t in a rush to start treatment and then after a plea started a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy 8 weeks after finding out I had cancer, not good.  I’m now on cycle 4 and had a scan at the end of cycle 3.....results tumours in breasts half the size and no trace in the liver.  A lymph node in my chest is slightly larger but they said they are not worried about that.  I said should I be worried? They said no.  One thing I will say.  My experience with the cancer nurse is very poor, reading some posts on here I really envy people who have a great relationship and support with their nurse and Macmillan nurse, I can’t say that.  I’m practically on my own.  It’s lonely at times and I try to be positive as being negative isn’t good.  The overwhelming of tiredness is horrible as the neuropathy I have developed in my feet.  Mentioned it to my nurse and she said “oh dear”.  Then you read on here the majority of blogs are positive so I’m hoping to pick up tips here.  Keep strong and try to stay positive and it’s okay to have an off day or two that’s normal, don’t beat yourself up about it.

  • Thanks for the positive note, hope your radiotherapy went well.

  • Thank you for the positive note, means a lot.  TNBC January treatment didn’t start till Mid March a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy.  by then I was a wreck as it had reached my liver.  Now I’m told the tumour in my breast are half the size no trace in my liver.  So so happy. Trying to keep positive as possible with bad days thrown in and me throwing my toys out of the pram, is normal and okay.  One question, did you develop neuropathy?
