Hello lovelies, I've been reading some posts on here to try and keep myself sane. I've been worrying a lot which I know you will all understand, I ended up in a and e yesterday with chest pain which ended up being oesophogeal spasm, probably caused by stress. I also have a stressful job but normally am pretty good at dealing with it.

So, I've had an itchy boob on and off for few months which intensified then I started to notice appearance changes, affected nipple now looks very different and pain now burning and there nearly all the time. Dr tried steroid cream, made it worse, now waiting on my red flag referral.

Thanks for reading! Xxxx

  • And breathe !  You've done the right thing getting referred for it to be checked out and if it is breast cancer it's treatable .  But it may be a simple allergic reaction.  Try taking anti histamine tablets to see if it reduces itching .  Because you're stressed you'll be very focused on your itchy boob which will make it worse xx

Thank you so much for reading and your kind reply. I take strong antihistamines daily for hay-fever but unfortunately they haven't helped. Nipple is now discoloured and much flatter which finally sent me to docs xxx

Should say, gran also had pagets disease xx

  • Hi Beary,

Being referred is obviously very much the right thing as it’s the only way you, or anyone else, can know for sure what’s happening.

Your family history will make you doubly anxious.

This is the very worst time as you have no definitive answer. Most of us have been there and appreciate the stress you are under.

Hopefully you will not have cancer but even if you do it is treatable. Try not to use Dr Google as  information is often decades out of date and inaccurate. Easier said than done I know.

Really hoping that you have a favourable outcome. Are there any stress relieving techniques you can use meantime?

    Bluebell xx

    Hi bluebell,

Thank you so much for reaching out, I know this sounds contrary but I am a nurse and whilst I know there are a lot of other outcomes, I think this makes it worse knowing what treatment might look like.

    Xxx
