I was diagnosed last month and my anxiety has gone through the roof, thought it would be good to speak to people who are also going through this
Hi connecting with people on here will definitely help you. There are lots of us on here who are or have been where you are right now. I took my diagnosis as a likely death sentence but it isn't and that's the main thing to bear in mind and hang onto. Breast cancer is very treatable these days with a very good success rate. The treatment is better than it used to be and most side effects while your going through treatment are manageable.
Have you been given your treatment plan yet as most of us feel a lot better once we know exactly what we are facing and what the plan is.
What really helped me was clicking on people's profiles and reading their stories. It made me realise that being rid of the cancer was very doable. You can read my story by clicking on my profile.
You will have ups and downs but you will get through this especially now you've find this website. I'm sure lots others who are at your stage in the process will get in touch with you soon.
Keep posting and try and keep busy to distract yourself and definitely don't use google. x
Hi
well you have found the right place, everyone on here is either going through it or has been previously!
Do you know what type of treatment you will be having?
I was diagnosed on the 11th November. 3 weeks later I had a mastectomy and then started chemo. Personally the first few weeks were the worst, worrying about what was going to happen, what side effects I would have, why nothing was happening any quicker to name just a few! While I was at work and busy I could block it out a bit, but found it harder to do during th3 night! What is it with waking up at 3 am and all the worries, thoughts and dreads come rushing in?
Personally the beginning was the worst bit, now that the treatment has started some of the worries have gone away, the unknown was the worst bit.
Dnt be too hard on yourself it’s a difficult thing to come to terms with but you will get there.
take care
kathryn
