Hi all

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I had 2 lumpectomies - 2nd one after they unexpectedly found cancer after removal of radial scar and then radiotherapy in January. I’ve felt I was recovering well but now really struggling and feeling like I’ve gone backwards in health.

Ive been on Tamoxifen since January and symptoms have just got worse. Chronic exhaustion, body aches and hot flushes. It’s a struggle to get my part time work done and have no energy to do much else.

Would love to know others experiences of Tamoxifen and if this is a short term thing or not?

Thanks Pray

  • Hello, have you tried some different brands? They appear to effect people in different ways and no one brand seems to be better than any other. I’m on genesis and after the first couple of weeks I'm finding it bearable.. very dry mouth so drinking more. Have you spoken to your chemist about trying a different brand?

    Hi

Maybe this will help you re choosing your brand.

When you get your prescription from your GP, have it on a separate sheet.  You can then take it to any pharmacy where they have the brand you want to try.

I've just started Letrozole but the brand I was given at the hospital just hasn't suited me at all so I've checked around the pharmacies here, phone or in person, and it seems it all seems a bit ad hoc so it will a matter of finding out which pharmacy has what brand in stock, so I'll be choosing, until I find one that I can tolerate.

I have other medications too, so I will merely order the Letrozole at a different time, to ensure it's on a separate prescription, so I can shop around.

Good luck and wishing you well Slight smile
