Yes, good news about the chemo but the radio is to mop up any stray cells which may be left hanging around.  Usually anastrozole is post menopause and tamoxifen is pre menopause so have you got that the right way round?  10 years does seem like a long time but it will ensure you have a chance to live for 10 years.  I'm 64 and have been told I will be taking anastrozole fo 5-10 years!   How many radiotherapy treatments are you going to have?

That's what I have heard but definitely the right way round and along with zoladex injections. Radiotherapy I think he said everyday for 5 days. Was so much information to take in. He's told me to have the mirena coil taken out and get my teeth checked before I start to have any of these injections. I'm seeing him again in 10-14 days to go over it all again as it all got too much, he was talking about various dude effects I may experience and I got upset and couldn't take it all in.

From what I've read I'm not looking forward to the side effects at all and feel like I'm worrying about it more and more xx

Great that you can have the 5 treatments instead of the 15.  The side effects tend to be worse case scenario.  There was a spot on a TV program the other day about the side effects of drugs and the 'nocebo' effect in that if you are told what the side effects could be, people actually say they have the effect.  I don't tend to take notice of the list of side effects until something happens then I look to see if it could be a side effect.  Please don't worry about the possible side effects as, if you do have them and they are severe, there is probably another drug which will do the same job.  Ask him for a confirmation letter of what he has told you so you can go over it again to understand it all.  It is a lot to take in and he should be ok with that.  I'm surprised you hadn't already been told to have your mirena removed as this gives off hormones which could affect your cancer.

That's great news for no chemo. I will be having 5 days of radio as well. It will be worth it, I am not going to look at the side effects of the drugs as Lesley said why worry before hand, we may be fine. Good luck, I hope it all goes well. x
