my wife just been told has stage one 9mm
we both devastated waiting for opp date
bad nervous time
Hi Cott, really sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis but it’s great that you’ve found this site. Waiting for appointments and results is the hardest bit.
Try not to worry too much though as breast cancer is very treatable these days and chances are really high that you’re wife will soon be cancer free. Stage 1 9mm sounds like they’ve caught it early which will hopefully mean that her treatment will be short and much less likely to have spread to lymph nodes. It’s still very treatable even if it spreads to lymph nodes.
Mine was stage 2 and about 2cm or slightly more and my treatment is all finished other than needing to take hormone blockers for 5 years. Surgery for me was mid January. Hope your wife’s journey is also a quick one.
Seems like you will be a good support and source of comfort for her.
If you look around this website you should also be able to find a section for carers and friends and family of people with cancer. You might find that helpful if you need some support too.
Wishing you both all the best.
Many thanks for your reply
hopefully the operation will be in the next week or two they did say she would need radio and a tablet for 5 years
just need to get it done soon a they can
best regards
kevin
Hope it all goes well and the surgery is done soon. Feel free to post here again if you need any more help or support. Your wife too.
Hi cott,Sorry to hear that your wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer, but as GodWilling has said breast cancer is very treatable these daysand things have moved on so much. I am sure you will both still be coming to terms with it all but once her treatment starts you will both feel so much better. The waiting is definitely the worst stage, I found. I hope you have been given information booklets to help you both understand the ongoing procedures- if not if you ring the Macmillan helpline you can speak to a specialist nurse who will send them to you. I found them to be very helpful and reassuring in the early stages. Your wifes Breast Care Nurse should be available to answer any questions specifically to her case. I hope that she gets a date for the operation soon and then she will have HAD cancer. The ongoing radiotherapy and hormone blocking tablets are just belts and braces to prevent recurrence and I would advise that she take up the offer of them .Wishing you both the best through this roller coaster of a journey .
Hello, you sound as brilliant as my husband has been, I was diagnosed with breast cancer with a 10 mm tumour, I had it removed in January and I have finished radiotherapy today. I am also on tablets for five years. It is not a nice situation to be in, but friends and family have been very supportive. Once you reach this point, you will begin to feel more positive both of you hopefully, I do now and very relieved as well.
I hope everything goes well for you
Best wishes Anne
Hi I found a lump beginning of Feb it was a Sunday on the Monday rang docs had an appointment within 10 days at the breast clinic had the mammograms and scans had the biopsy there and then went back to the consultant and was told it was 15mm in size and was told it was stage 1 ER+ breast cancer had my NM infection on the 25th Feb had breast conserving surgery 26th Feb negative nodes so hadn't spread I was in shock at first but when the consultant said treatable I had a sence of calmness about me 4 days post op and doing well it is such a worry waiting for appointments and results but try not to worry good luck to your wife and hope she has her operation etc as quick as I did xx
That's so good that your wife is booked in for operation on Thursday. It will soon come along what with pre assessment and covid swab also the NM injection all in one week which I had.. it still feels so surreal as you don't believe it has happened to you but it makes you feel so different somehow I can't quite explain it if that makes sense... Sending love and best wishes to you both and wish your wife a speedy recovery Kevin regards Belinda x
