Hi everyone
hope everyone is doing ok. First time here.
I’m not sure I can find all the words right now for how I’m feeling but hoping saying hi to others who understand what it can feel like right now. I’m 42 & got diagnosed with invasive grade 2 yesterday. Waiting for receptor results. Got to have bone & ct scan next week to check if it’s spread. Consultant said will begin on chemotherapy. Feeling so scared & alone in all this. I do have family & friends but I’ve no idea how to begin to tell them. Emotions are all over place. Can anyone relate? Thanks so much for reading this.
Hi PinkLady2021, don't worry we can all relate as we've all been there. It's awful when you first find out and all the waiting to get results is awful but you will get through it.
I found out I had breast cancer 18th December and it was only once I was sure that I told my husband and one friend (as I needed her help because husband was abroad). Didn't tell my sons until day before my operation (16th Jan) and still haven't told my mom or brother and probably won't. We are all different so take your time and decide what is best for you.
Mine was also grade 2 ductal invasive and hormone receptive. I had a lumpectomy 16th Jan and now waiting to see if they got it all out with clear margins and if my lymph nodes were affected.
So don't feel alone there are lots of us here at different stages of this emotional rollercoaster.
If you are having chemo you should join the January chemo thread and maybe the Feb chemo thread when it starts depending on when your chemo is. This should be the link https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/breast-cancer-forum/f/questions-about-diagnosis-and-treatment/209377/january-breast-cancer-chemo
There is also the AWAKE thread where lots of us post sometimes through the night. Just reply to the last person who posted and say hi and you will get a very warm welcome. Here is the link https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/breast-cancer-forum/f/breast-cancer-forum/128753/awake/1531303#1531303
There is also an under 50's breast cancer forum but that is less active https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_experiences/breast-cancer-for-the-under-50s-forum
And you can always message me if you need to and remember that breast cancer is very treatable these days.
Sending Big Hugs xx
Thanks so much. While it’s an awful thing to be going through, it’s good to feel less alone in it. Hoping you get the clear margins result you need. Thanks again x
Thank you.
You are definitely not alone.
Hope you have a good nights sleep.
xx
Hi there,
I had my first appointment at the breast clinic last Thursday 21st Jan. After numerous mammograms and ultrasounds and 4 biopsies, I was told that I do have breast cancer. I could kind of tel from how they were talking, and they put the titanium marker in my tumour. I go back next Tuesday for the biopsy results and to find out more about treatment etc. I’m 36 and have been healthy all my life, so I know what you mean about emotions being all over the place. I tested negative for BRCA2 after my mum passed away from breast cancer, so I just wasn’t expecting it. I just blurted it out to close friends and family and I feel better for it, but I just can’t believe this is happening to me, it is a complete rollercoaster. I hope you’re ok xx
