Hi Kat,
It will be a tough day.. no matter what the result. Take some deep breaths..... Feeling sick is a normal reaction to fear. Take some more deep breaths.... (it does help, i promise).
No matter what the outcome, it will be fine. It is very treatable (in its may forms) and you can get through today and will find the strength after to deal with whatever the result may be. Try not to second guess it too much and, if you can, take someone with you to hold your hand.
The ladies on here are great so do post if you need after your results if you need some answers or reassurance.
... as Jane Fonda said (oh youre probably too young to remember her...) "don't forget to breathe".

Hi Kat,
Thinking of you, whatever the result there are people on this site here for you, we have all been in your position so know exactly how you feel. I know you said there was a backlog so you are more worried now but it's probably better to know sooner whatever the results may be. the waiting is the hard part and the treatment (if necessary) these days is absolutely brilliant.
Take someone with you if you can, good to have another pair of ears and a hand to hold.
Dawn x
Hi Kat,
I was in your position, just over a year ago.
How could I wait......
I couldn't, I made an urgent appointment with my GP for the same day, I knew she could tap
into the hospital records.
She did just that, I was glad she told me , it was far more personal.
It gave me the time to prepare for the ongoing treatment appointment.
I just couldn't face that cold room with the surgeon and the token nurse with a box of tissues,
and everyone looking as you came out of THE room.
Hugs

hi kat just to say im thinking of you this is the worst bit for you sending you hugs xxxx
Hi Kat
That actually happened with all my appointments, I would be told a certain length of time then would get a phone call to be there the next day. I don't think I waited more than 2-3 days for each appointment. Obviously that really worried me & I convinced myself they had decided my case was urgent - obviously not though as I eventually waited 4 weeks from my last appointment to surgery.
I think it's a case of once you are in the system (ie had a scan) then they do everything as fast as they can - even if they have told you something different, I presume to just cover their own backsides if they do take longer.
Please don't take this as meaning they have found anything sinister, it could be a matter of one more patient off their books once they have given you the good news.
As others have said, if that isn't the case then you have lots of support & will get through it xx
It is a very anxious time, I know, and I was trying to be strong and cope with it all... but when it came to the crunch i bottled it! My sister phoned and was willing to take a day off work (school teacher) and come with me, and I realised I not only needed someone with me but that my whole family were worried for me too!
My sister's support was invaluable, especially as we both realised that it was probably not going to be good news when it was the Breast Care nurse that called us in, holding a small folder :-(
Have you got anyone who can go with you? Believe me, it's worth it if you have... someone to share the burden and give you hugs and a shoulder to cry on.
This OL community is great, and there's always someone who can share things and comfort you...
I've no idea why you were told up to 6 weeks... the average time for a biopsy result is 7-10 days, but often far less than that! I also don't really know why age should determine whether they're worried or not... although it's more common in the over 40s breast cancer can strike at any age.
Wishing you good luck for your Friday appointment,
xx
