Radiotherapy

It might be worth asking if you’d get help with travelling as to do a long journey day after day is tiring. My rads were in Oxford which was around a 2 hour drive whichever route one took. My GP wouldn’t hear of me driving myself and just gave me the number to phone for transport. 
as to choice, sadly I had none as there used to be a contract with a nearby private unit but it ended a few years back. I hope you can get some advice as to which way to turn? BCN? A member of your Onco team?

ps, I had the same, it was only in one node on surgery for my recurrence, surgeon thought I was clear….

Moomy, thank you so much for replying. Mine would be at least a 3 hour round trip if I had to go to Wimbledon. I will definitely ask about help with transport.  I’m really hoping they will let me go to the private hospital that I’ve found which is under an hour away.  Have you been cancer free for a while?  Xx

I’m supposedly free for a couple of years now, surgery was May 2024….radiotherapy was that July. Then had a newish drug, Abemaciclib for 2 years plus the hormone ones again for 5. Originally had just surgery with an implant and oestrogen busting meds for 5 years, that surgery was early 2018 but it sneaked behind the implant and I only found it due to an extra ache and a tiny firm lump at the end of my scar. I’d even had a year clear of drugs too! So now flat that side and not keen. Ah well….at least I’m alive! 

I think they like a gap between surgery and rads so you get full shoulder movement and are fully healed. You’ll need that shoulder movement as of course you have arms up for the rads.
