Fatigue

Anyone else fed up with the over whelming fatigue associated with breast cancer.  Im in remission and finished chemotherapy and radiotherapy 4 years ago.  However hormonal tablet to take for 5 years have turned me into a zombie as Im constantly tired.   On top of everything else I have reduced stamina because of radiotherapy induced lung fibrosis and I also have minor lung impairment from a rare infection I got whilst having chemotherapy. Even though I exercise I lack energy and it takes me most of the morning before I can get going.  And on top of everything else I have recently being diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea which is also contributing to the  fatigue and lack of energy.

  • Hi

I have had different treatments to you but have been left with a bag of consequences. I think it’s the fate of many of us. No symptoms from breast cancer but treatment that damages us, sometimes permanently. An experience that has mental as well as physical impacts. A constant expectation from outside that we should all be back to normal by now. I don’t always feel fed up about it as I am also grateful to still be here. I try to enjoy the things I can enjoy and do the things I can. But there is always some mourning in there for what I have lost.

  • Thank you Codfish.  I agree with you.  I would describe myself as optimistic and positive and I enjoy doing spas , pilates and meditation.  And its ironic that once you finish treatment and are in remission , you still have the energy loss but like you said Codfish , Im thankful to be alive .  But I would be interested to hear from any cancer patients who have also been diagnosed with sleep apnea and how they coped with fatigue alongside cancer induced fatigue.  I am still on the NHS waiting list for CPAP treatment for the sleep apnea but have a date end of year.
