I had lumpectomies, radiotherapy 2 years ago. Then milk ducts removed April 2026.
my cancer is in remission which is great!
I thought my body was almost back to normal. I moved home and did most of the move by myself!
Everything was fine. For about a week I put up my curtains’ rail and 11 curtains. Made some mistakes so had to take them down again and then up again!!
All this physical work where I had to stretch my arms upwards and sideways, brought back such pain on the side of the lumpectomy. It feels as if I had surgery…. !
has anyone else have had this experience?
The radiotherapy is the gift that keeps on giving. It can cause tightening in the muscles for years after. The exercises you did right at the beginning are often helpful for ever after.
I would think you’ve just overworked those muscles. Putting up curtains is a two person job really. One to hold the weight of the curtain while the other clips in the hooks.
well done for managing on your own but maybe next time get help. Not as satisfying but less painfull.
Go back to doing the stretching exercises. You are within the five years so ring your BC nurse and check.
Enjoy your new home.
Three times! What did I do?
