Anxiety

Hi I'm really struggling with anxiety at the moment. I live with my two sons and I'm going through the chemo stage .I haven't tolerated it well and I feel like my anxiety is making everything worse . I have persuaded myself because of how poorly I've been on the tchp that I'm going to die from the treatment . I've been to my docs who have prescribed some sleeping tablets for temporary use but I feel like this isn't going to help in the long term . Everyone just says I'm being strong and I need to stay positive but I don't know how as my brain is constantly giving me new ways to die. Sepsis ,blood clots , heart attack from the chemo . I don't know why I'm writing this I just feel I need somewhere to vent . Sorry for being a downer

  • Hi

I really hate all the stay strong and positive stuff. It’s not likely to make the slightest bit of difference to what the cancer is doing. I think sometimes people just say it because it sounds like the right thing to say, particularly if they have not experienced cancer and cancer treatment. The reality is that treatment isn’t pleasant and it is relentless. Anxiety is a perfectly normal reaction to a major threat to our lives. But try to trust that the chemo is there to destroy the cancer and that sepsis, blood clots, heart attacks etc don’t happen to many people. Many people do feel grim but they get through it, and you will too.
