Hello, can someone please help. I had a biopsy on my left breast two weeks ago. one lump 15mm other smaller lump 5mm with a 7mm mass between them. Doctor said it is highly likely it is breast cancer.
Breast team rang today and explained its been to MDT panel, but they are still awiting one lab result i go next Tuesday to discuss results.
Please can someone advise why would they still be waiting for one lab result after the two weeks. Im all over the place with worry x
Hi Emm12
I am sorry you are awaiting biopsy results and the delay is worrying you. It might help to know that the biopsy samples are tested for 3 different receptors - oestrogen, progesterone and human growth hormone (HER2). The HER2 results often take longer to come back than the others, I assume it’s a more specialised test. As treatment plans are different depending on receptor status, they need all the results back before they can finalise their plan for you. It’s not likely to be anything more sinister than that.
